UK Manufacturer Unveils Innovative Microphone Suspension System

Rycote, the industry-standard name in microphone suspension and windshield design, are launching InVision, their newest innovative range of handling noise-reducing microphone suspensions for compact microphones

inv-1schoepsFor years, microphone suspensions have conformed to the same basic design, isolating microphones from handling noise by means of elasticated cradles. InVision is completely different; a new, patented design called the Lyre forms the heart of the new range, comprising dual W-shaped clips of varying sizes. The Lyre webs are discreet and compact, almost indestructible, and reduce unwanted vibrations more efficiently than standard suspensions. They fit on a support bar that can be mounted on any desk or floor stand with a standard 3/8-inch thread connector. Designed for studio and installed sound applications, the InVision suspensions are not for use within a windshield.

The eight models in the InVision range use Lyres of varying sizes to fit microphones of different lengths and diameters from a variety of manufacturers. INV-1 to INV-3, designed for use with desk, stand-mounted or hanging microphones, use compact Lyre webs, 43 mm wide, for use with smaller-bodied microphones. Models INV-4 to INV-8 can be used in static applications, but are also suitable for use with microphones on boom poles and employ 70 mm wide Lyre webs for larger microphones. In addition, INV-7 and INV-8's Lyre webs are connected to a longer support bar than is used in other InVision models, allowing users to arrange the Lyre webs at up to 70 mm from one another, and thereby giving better support to longer, heavier microphones.

With Lyre webs ranging from 9.5 mm to 30 mm, InVision suspensions are suitable for most small-to medium-barrelled microphones on the market today, as you can see from the selections pictured at the end of this release. A full list of compatible microphones and their suitable InVision model can be found on-line at www.rycote.com/products/invision.

“As with all our products, InVision was designed and made in the UK — the tooling is made locally and everything is assembled at our factory in Stroud,” notes Vivienne Dyer, Rycote’s Managing Director, commenting on the launch of the InVision range. “Microphone suspensions have all been essentially the same for years, so we’re delighted to be introducing some innovation back into the field.”

Net price of all the models (INV-1.....INV-8): 9,900.- Ft
